Academy of Art University is a private art and design university in San Francisco, founded in 1929 by the working artist Richard S. Stephens, with programmes on campus and online. Among its schools are the School of Fashion, whose students learn sewing and pattern making alongside fashion technology and work in design, merchandising, styling, product development, textiles and costume, with an annual runway show; the School of Industrial Design; and the School of Jewelry & Metal Arts, which teaches fine jewellery techniques, casting and fabrication as well as enamel, lasers and 3D modelling.
