In short
The Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, at via Ricasoli 66, traces its origins to the Accademia del Disegno founded in 1563 by Giorgio Vasari and was reorganised as an academy of fine arts in 1784. Alongside painting, sculpture, decoration, graphics and scenography, its degree courses include interior design and a scenography path in costume for the performing arts and methods for haute couture. It runs a master in contemporary jewellery art in collaboration with LAO Florence and has offered masters in art textiles with the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio and in ceramic product design, not active in 2025/2026.
