The Académie des Beaux-Arts de Tournai is a municipal art college subsidised by the French Community of Belgium, on Rue de l'Hôpital Notre-Dame, offering nine programmes. The school states that it was created in 1756 and opened in 1757 by the city of Tournai to train skilled artistic workers for the porcelain manufactory newly established there. Its textile design programme, with a three-year bachelor and a master, explores weaving, tapestry, knitting, embroidery and other textile techniques through modules on textile surfaces, structure and volume.
