In short

Agematsu Technical School is a public vocational training school of Nagano Prefecture in Agematsu, in the Kiso valley, where people seeking work in woodworking learn to make furniture. It has two courses, Woodworking and Wood Design, which teach the use of wood, hand-tool and machine techniques and finishing; students make built-in and solid-wood furniture and individual pieces, and can take kumiko latticework, wood-turning in the Nagiso rokuro tradition and Kiso lacquer practice. The school opened in July 1946 as the Agematsu vocational guidance centre and took its present name in 1978.
