In short
Aichi University of the Arts is a public university of fine arts and music in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, that opened in April 1966. The Ceramics major of its Department of Design and Crafts draws on the nearby pottery centres of Seto, Tokoname and Mino: in the first two years students learn throwing teaware and rice bowls, iron-oxide and underglaze blue painting, porcelain, plaster-mould techniques, hand-building and ceramic materials and history. From the third year they choose one of three courses, ceramics and craft, ceramic design (with industry projects) or ceramic art.
