In short
The Institute of String Instruments (Instytut Instrumentów Lutniczych) of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań trains violin makers in the building and conservation of bowed and plucked string instruments through its Chair of Artistic Lutherie, alongside performance studies on violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp and guitar. The academy states that the institute has run the artistic lutherie specialisation since 1978 and is the only university unit in Poland to do so; studies are offered at first and second cycle, with teaching in a master-apprentice relationship. The academy is at ul. Święty Marcin 87 in Poznań.
