In short
The Institute for Conservation and Restoration (IKR) of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna runs the diploma programme in conservation and restoration and doctoral studies. Students specialise in paintings and polychrome sculpture; paper and books; wall paintings and architectural surfaces; objects with a focus on wood and historical musical instruments, in cooperation with the Kunsthistorisches Museum; or modern and contemporary art and media art. The institute has restoration studios, workshops and laboratories, and its history page traces restoration teaching at the Academy back to the 19th century; according to the same page, it moved to Augasse 2–6 in 2017 during the renovation of the Academy's building on Schillerplatz.
