In short
The Akademie für Handwerksdesign Gut Rosenberg is a training centre of the Aachen Chamber of Crafts, where qualified craftspeople from different trades study design together. It began in 1985 as a pilot project of the federal government and has been housed since 1994 in Gut Rosenberg, a restored 13th-century moated farmstead in Aachen-Horbach. Its programmes include the three-year full-time course in craft design and business management, leading to the state-recognised title of Handwerksdesigner/in or, with a master craftsman's qualification, Meisterdesigner/in, and the part-time state-recognised Gestalter/in im Handwerk. The academy says it stands in the tradition of the Bauhaus and the schools of arts and crafts.
