In short
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, a higher school of arts of the City of Brussels, traces its origin to 1711, when the city magistrate gave the deans of painters, sculptors and tapestry makers a room in the town hall to practise drawing. Among its bachelor's and master's programmes are Textile Design, centred on soft materials, structure, texture and know-how, and Tapestry – Textile Arts, a studio where the transmission of textile techniques is central; it also offers professional courses in knitwear design and food design.
