In short
The Arita Ceramics field is part of Saga University's Faculty of Art and Regional Design and is taught at the Arita campus, in the town where Japanese porcelain began some 400 years ago. It was created in 2016, when the Arita College of Ceramics merged into the university. Courses cover wheel throwing, decoration, plaster-mould forming, ceramic raw materials and glaze chemistry, CAD/CAM and ceramic product design, along with marketing; special practicums are led by Imaizumi Imaemon XIV and Sakaida Kakiemon XV. The campus also hosts SPACE-ARITA, a ceramics exchange programme for international students.
