The Department of Materials and Textiles of Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology, in Banqiao District, New Taipei, descends from the textile engineering section of the Asia Eastern junior college of technology, opened in 1969. It became the Department of Materials and Fibres in 2001 and has had its present Chinese name, Materials, Textiles and Clothing, since 2023. Its undergraduate programme has two tracks, applied materials technology and textile and clothing design, alongside a master's programme in applied technology, and the department is linked to the university's functional fashion textiles research and development centre and a textile production-line base.
