In short
Atelier Textile, founded in 1985 by the textile designers Robert Lamarre and Monique Beauregard as the Centre de recherche et de design et impression textile de Montréal, is a centre devoted to textile design for printing, based since 1988 in the former Simmons mattress factory on rue Saint-Ambroise in Montreal. Since 1989, in partnership with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, it has delivered the college diploma (DEC 573.AD) in Techniques de métiers d'art, textile printing option, in which students design patterns by hand and on computer and create printed fabrics for fashion, the home and the stage. It also offers workshops for the general public, applied research and support for textile professionals.
