The Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology is a public fashion university in Beijing that grew out of the Beijing Textile Institute of 1959 and took its present name in 1987; it states that it was China's first public fashion university, and since 2019 it has been an art institution. Its schools include the School of Fashion Art and Engineering and the School of Accessory Art and Engineering, founded in 2017, which offers product design with tracks in jewellery design, bags and footwear design, lifestyle design and virtual fashion, as well as industrial design. The university also has a museum of ethnic costume and is located at 2A Yinghua East Street, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
