The Department of Industrial Art of Bolgatanga Technical University, in the School of Applied Science and Arts, started full operations in 2008 as a Higher National Diploma programme of the former polytechnic. It teaches communication and graphic design, fashion and textiles, sculpture, painting and decorating, ceramics and leatherwork. It offers four-year Bachelor of Technology degrees, including Fashion Design and Textiles, a three-year HND in Industrial Art, two-year diplomas in garment making and furniture design, and proficiency certificates in garment making. The ceramics section focuses on tableware and roofing and floor tiles, and the leatherwork section combines textile and leather materials.
