Bournemouth University teaches a BA (Hons) Product Design at its Talbot Campus, over three years full-time or four with a placement of at least 30 weeks, and also offers a BSc route focused on the technological side of design. Students use a specialist CAD laboratory and the university's manufacturing design centre, and in the final year design their own original product and make a working prototype, shown at the annual Festival of Design & Engineering. The university states that the course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers for registration as a Registered Product Designer.
