In short

The Kantcentrum in Bruges is a lace museum and knowledge centre that grew out of the lace school of the Apostoline Sisters, who set up the Kantcentrum association in 1970 to give lace education new opportunities. It teaches bobbin lace and needle lace through youth classes, beginners' courses, workshops and summer courses, and runs a four-year lace teacher training covering lace techniques, finishing, design, lace analysis and lace history, taught mainly in Dutch. Since 2014 it has been housed in the former lace school on the Adornes estate in Balstraat, where it also offers daily lace-making demonstrations and publishes lace books and a lace magazine in four languages.
