In short

The State Vocational School Centre for Product Design and Testing Technology in Selb, Upper Franconia, brings several vocational schools under one roof. Its vocational and technical school for product design, historically named the Johann-Friederich-Böttger-Institut, has existed since 1909 and for decades was the central training centre of the porcelain industry; the two-year course leads to the qualification of state-certified design technical assistant specialising in product design. The centre also runs vocational classes for industrial ceramicists, ceramics testing technologists and stonemasons, and a technical school for stone technology in Wunsiedel.
