In short

Capellagården, a school for creative craft work, was started in 1960 as a foundation by Carl and Siv Malmsten on an old farm in the village of Vickleby on southern Öland. Its programmes are built around a material: furniture (wood), ceramics and textiles, along with building conservation, garden and a cultural incubator; a first year of scheduled courses is followed by further years of personal projects. The school says most of its teachers also work professionally in craft, art or design, and it runs summer courses.
