In short
The Centre des métiers du cuir de Montréal (CMCM) has worked in education, research and promotion of the leather trades since 1989, and states that it is the only school-studio in Québec and Canada offering specialised professional training in leather goods and footwear. Since 1996, in partnership with the Institut des métiers d'art of the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, it has offered the three-year college diploma (DEC) in Techniques de métiers d'art, leather goods option: studio courses at the CMCM, general and programme courses at the cégep, small groups and a module on running a craft business. Students learn to design and make high-quality fashion and decorative leather accessories; the centre also offers custom courses.
