In short
The Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal is a textile school-studio that grew out of a textile design studio opened in 1975 at the Visual Arts Centre in Westmount by Régine Mainberger and Louise Lemieux Bérubé. Accredited in 1990 by the Québec Ministry of Education, it delivers with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal the three-year college diploma (DEC) in Crafts, textile construction option, in which students design and make original pieces and small series for fashion, design and lifestyle, using weaving and knitting equipment and software, embroidery, sewing, dyeing and felting. Teaching is in French, and the centre at 5800 rue Saint-Denis also offers courses and workshops for the public.
