The Department of Industrial Design of Chang Gung University, in Guishan District, Taoyuan, was founded in 1994 within the university's College of Management; a master's programme followed in 2001. Undergraduates first learn design basics such as drawing, technical graphics and design thinking, and from the third year choose modules in product design, medical design, cross-disciplinary innovation or digital media design. The department has studios and workshops for metal, wood, plastics, plaster, painting and model making.
