The Department of Industrial Design of Chaoyang University of Technology, in Wufeng District, Taichung, was founded in 1994. Its curriculum has three strands, industrial product design, cultural-creative and craft design, and digital technology design, and combines a four-year sequence of design studios with workshop practice, materials and processing, and market research. The department has a model workshop and studios for ceramics, metalwork, glass and wood and bamboo craft.
