In short
The Idrija Lace School teaches the bobbin-lace technique of Idrija lace and has, by its own account, operated without interruption since 1876; the school declares it is the oldest continuously running lace school in the world. Its programme for children and young people aged 6 to 18 covers lacemaking, lacemaking techniques and pattern drawing, taught in classes in Idrija and several nearby primary schools, and since 2005/2006 a weekly course for adults has run in Idrija. The school also assesses the national vocational qualifications of lacemaker and lacemaking instructor, and sells lace through its shop; it is part of the Slovenian Centre for School and Outdoor Education (CŠOD).
