In short

Colchester Institute is a further education college that runs a two-year full-time furniture programme at its Colchester campus: a Level 2 Diploma in Furniture Making in the first year and a Level 3 Diploma in Furniture Design & Making in the second. In a training workshop that reflects real workshop conditions, students learn hand, power tool and machine work, joints from mortise and tenon to dovetails, doors, drawers, basic veneering, timber technology and technical drawing, with City & Guilds assessments and at least 30 hours of work placement.
