In short
The Conservation Center of New York University's Institute of Fine Arts trains art conservators in New York City; it describes itself as the oldest degree-granting art conservation programme in North America. Students earn both an MS in the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and an MA in the History of Art and Archaeology, through three years of coursework and a fourth-year capstone at a cultural heritage institution, specialising in paper, photographs, books, paintings, objects or time-based media art. Summer practical training takes place at museums, historic houses and Institute-sponsored archaeological excavations.
