DANAT, the Bahrain Institute for Pearls & Gemstones, is a gemmological laboratory and learning and research centre in the East Tower of the Bahrain World Trade Centre in Manama, licensed by the Bahrain Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to examine and report on pearls and gemstones. Since an agreement signed in 2020 it has been a Gem-A Accredited Teaching Centre and offers the Gem-A Gemmology Foundation and Diploma courses, aimed at careers in the jewellery industry. Its education programmes also include a pearl course combining natural, cultured and imitation pearls, hands-on laboratory work and a visit to Bahrain's Pearling Path, and shorter courses for enthusiasts.
