In short

The Deutsche Schuhfachschule in Pirmasens, part of the BBS Pirmasens vocational school and housed in the International Shoe Competence Center (ISC), offers a two-year training as state-certified shoe technician (Bachelor Professional) for the shoe, supplier and fashion industries. The modular course covers materials, manufacturing technology, quality management and pattern technique for shoe models, both by hand and with CAD, including computer-controlled cutting and grading, and students turn their own designs into wearable shoes in the ISC workshops. The site traces the school to a shoemakers' school founded in 1891 and refounded in 1927.
