In short

The École d'ébénisterie d'art de Montréal is a non-profit school-workshop that became independent in 2007, continuing a cabinetmaking programme taught in Montreal for more than forty years. In collaboration with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, it teaches the three-year college diploma in craft techniques with a specialisation in artisanal cabinetmaking, covering design, technical drawing, choice of materials, shaping, ornamentation and finishing, in small groups led by professional makers. Since 2014 it has also offered courses for the public in furniture making, hand tools, furniture restoration, wood carving and woodturning, and since 2019 it has run an incubator workshop for young cabinetmakers.
