In short

The Escuela de Arte Francisco Alcántara, known as the Escuela Oficial de Cerámica, is a public ceramics school in Madrid founded in 1911 by the art critic and painter Francisco Alcántara Jurado to revive the pottery and ceramic tradition. Since 1934 it has occupied the grounds of La Tinaja near San Antonio de la Florida, in a pavilion by the architect Luis Bellido with a garden by Javier de Winthuysen. It offers higher vocational courses in artistic ceramics, ceramic model and mould making and ceramic coatings, and intermediate courses in pottery and ceramic decoration.
