Auchi Polytechnic, in Auchi, Edo State, trains middle-level technical staff in engineering, sciences, environmental studies, management and art and design, with National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes. Its School of Art & Industrial Design began in 1974 as a department on the Benin campus, became a full school in 1976 and moved to Auchi in 1977, initially with departments of painting and general art, graphics and textiles, and sculpture and ceramics. The polytechnic's current departments include Graphics & Textile, Ceramics & Glass Technology, Sculpture, Painting, General Art & Industrial Design, and Fashion Design & Clothing Technology.
