In short
Fil en Normandie is a production school, a private non-profit technical school recognised by the State, on rue des Drakkars in Condé-sur-Noireau (Condé-en-Normandie), in the Calvados; it is run by the association École de Production Normande Industrie Textile et de la Mode and belongs to the network of production schools. Free of charge and open from the age of 15, it trains garment makers and sewing-machine operators and prepares the CAP Métiers de la mode – vêtement flou. Students spend 20 hours a week in the school's industrial sewing workshop, learning on real orders from local companies, from household linen to garments and textile accessories, alongside general lessons and around six weeks of company placements.
