In short
The Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio is a non-profit foundation in Florence that keeps alive hand weaving in silk and precious metals; it is heir to the manufacture founded by Giuseppe Lisio in 1906, and the foundation itself was established in 1971. Alongside its jacquard handlooms and textile archive, it runs a School of Textile Arts, active since the 1980s and a training agency accredited by the Tuscany Region since 2012. Its courses include scheduled courses on historic textile techniques, a two-year course in historical and stage tailoring, and a first-level Master in Textile, the creation of art fabrics, held with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze; it also supports ISTÓS, a weaving school in Calascio, Abruzzo.
