In short
The Schule für Gestaltung (school of design) of the St. Gallen vocational and further education centre (GBS) trains apprentices in design trades, including garment designer (Bekleidungsgestalter/in EFZ), also in its own couture teaching workshop, as well as graphic designers, interactive media designers and photo media specialists. The couture workshop at Kugelgasse 19 takes custom orders, with a process the school says is oriented to haute couture standards; admission requires a two-day trial apprenticeship and an entrance exam. At higher level it offers part-time HF diploma courses in industrial design, interactive media design and visual design, plus preparatory design courses.
