In short
The Gemmological Association of Australia is a not-for-profit body that has trained gemmologists since it was formed in Sydney on 29 October 1945; it teaches through divisions in every Australian state. Its New South Wales division works from Gemmology House in Rozelle, with a lecture room, a gemmology laboratory with microscopes and refractometers, and a diamond studies laboratory. Courses range from the part-time Diploma in Gemmology and the Diploma in Diamond Technology to short practical courses on diamond grading, pearls, jade, opal and antique jewellery, and online studies.
