In short
The Gifu Academy of Forest Science and Culture is a public two-year vocational college of Gifu Prefecture in Mino that trains specialists in forests and wood. Its Woodworking major, part of the Forest and Wood Creator course for students aged 22 and over, teaches the properties of wood, the use of hand tools such as chisels and planes and of machines, design and making with local timber, digital fabrication, traditional techniques and business skills. Students choose a main field among small objects, furniture, wood education and green woodworking, and graduates work in furniture workshops and wood-turning studios or set up as woodworkers.
