Guangxi Arts University is a public arts university in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, co-run by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the regional government; it traces its origins to an arts teacher-training class founded in Guilin in 1938 and became a university-level institution in 1960. Its School of Design offers fashion and accessory design, which grew out of a dyeing and weaving programme opened in 1982, as well as product design and an arts and crafts programme with two directions, jewellery design and modern handicraft design, aimed at traditional hand techniques.
