In short

The Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe is a state university of design that opened on 15 April 1992; it was founded together with the ZKM Center for Art and Media, with which it shares a former industrial building in Karlsruhe. It offers diploma programmes in product design, communication design, exhibition design and scenography and media art, and a magister programme in art history and media philosophy, taught through project-based study from the first semester. Since 2009 the product design department has presented its own edition collection, kkaarrlls, at the Milan furniture fair, with furniture, lamps, rugs and home accessories.
