The Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel (HGK Basel) is the art and design school of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), offering bachelor's and master's programmes in five institutes on the Dreispitz campus at Freilager-Platz in Münchenstein near Basel. Its Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design teaches students to design mass-produced products, combining aesthetics, function, materiality and users' needs, with access to labs for design culture, materials and sustainability, and digital integration. The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design approaches fashion as a cultural practice, with a strong focus on the body, body-based design methods, performance and digital fashion. The campus has workshops including wood, metal, plastics and sewing.
