Hochschule Kaiserslautern teaches its bachelor's programme Leather and Textile Engineering at the Pirmasens campus, in a bilingual or English-language variant, with two specialisations: Textile Engineering and Shoe and Leather Engineering. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, materials science and polymer chemistry with quality management, materials testing, CAD design, process digitalisation, shoe manufacturing and sustainability in the textile and leather industry, with much time spent in the laboratories. The university states that Pirmasens is the only place in Germany to earn an engineering degree in shoe and leather engineering.
