The Gemstones and Jewellery campus of Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein offers a bachelor's degree (BFA, taught in German) and two master's degrees in English (MFA, one designed for experienced craftspeople without a bachelor's degree). It was founded in 1986 as a department of gemstone and jewellery design and has been part of the Faculty of Design since 2013. Facilities include jewellery workshops, a wood workshop, a CAD lab, a photo studio and a large gem-cutting workshop.
