In short
HTL Ferlach is a federal technical college in Ferlach, Carinthia, which grew out of the imperial technical school for the gun industry founded in 1878. Its art and design branches teach goldsmithing and jewellery design, which the school says it has taught since 1957, and engraving, including hunting and weapon engraving, combined with tattoo training on artificial skin. The school also offers industrial design within mechanical engineering, a four-year Fachschule for gunsmiths in which each student builds a break-action rifle, and further technical branches.
