IIGJ Udupi was established in 2017 by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) as one of the institutes of the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery; it is located on the first floor of the Zilla Panchayat Building at Bannanje, Udupi. It focuses on training in hand-crafted jewellery making, with gemmology and CAD labs and a jewellery manufacturing workshop. It offers professional certificates in CAD jewellery design, CAD rendering, jewellery making (bench work), jewellery manufacturing (casting) and gem identification.
