In short
IKTT (Innovation of Khmer Traditional Textiles) is a Cambodian NGO founded in 1996 by Kikuo Morimoto to revive Khmer silk weaving, which had nearly disappeared during the war and the years that followed. Since 2003 it has built the IKTT Village in Angkor Thom district, near Siem Reap: a craft village where silkworms are raised, dye plants are grown, and silk is dyed with natural dyes and woven by hand, and where about 100 people live. The organisation says it aims to pass traditional textile knowledge on to younger generations, and its history records that it has taken in trainees since 2000. Visitors can tour the workshops and try natural dyeing; the shop and museum are in Siem Reap.
