In short
The Imperial Porcelain Factory was founded in Saint Petersburg in 1744 by Empress Elizabeth, daughter of Peter I, and still produces porcelain at its site on Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue. Its painters work in overglaze and underglaze techniques, by hand or with mechanised and combined methods; many pieces are decorated with real gold and engraved patterns, and the factory states that its hand painting earned it international renown. According to its job offers, new production workers learn their trade on the job through an internship; the factory also offers tours of the production, a museum and porcelain painting master classes for the public.
