In short
The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery grew out of the Jewellery Product Development Centre, set up in Delhi in 1986 by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC); the first institute with the IIGJ name opened in Mumbai. Today it has institutes in Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi, Udupi, Guwahati and Ratnagiri. It offers degree, post-graduate diploma, diploma and certificate programmes in jewellery design, jewellery manufacturing, CAD-CAM and gemmology, and acts as GJEPC's training partner for goldsmith skilling under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
