In short
The Institut national de jeunes sourds de Paris, at 254 rue Saint-Jacques, is a public specialised education institution that takes in deaf young people aged 3 to 20; according to its site it was created by the law of 21 and 29 July 1791 to continue the work of the Abbé de l'Épée. Its vocational section prepares CAPs in plumbing, metalwork, joinery, couture and hairdressing. In couture, the two-year CAP Métiers de la mode – vêtement tailleur, taken after the troisième, emphasises made-to-measure work and opens onto stage-costume workshops, haute couture and luxury ready-to-wear, with projects run together with the institute's applied-arts workshops.
