In short
The Institut national du patrimoine is the higher education institution of the French Ministry of Culture that trains heritage professionals; its department of restorers has been housed since 2015 in the former match factory in Aubervilliers, at 124 rue Henri Barbusse. Admitted by competitive examination, student restorers follow a five-year course in one of seven specialities: arts of fire (ceramics, glass, enamel and metal), graphic arts and books, textiles, furniture, painting, photography and digital images, and sculpture. Theory, workshop practice, placements and training worksites in France and abroad lead to the diploma of heritage restorer, recognised at master's level.
