In short
The Institut québécois d'ébénisterie is the school-workshop in Quebec City where the Cégep Limoilou teaches the artisanal cabinetmaking option of its three-year college diploma (DEC) in craft techniques; general and some other courses take place at the cégep's Limoilou and craft campuses. Students learn to design, make and repair furniture and furnishing objects, to choose among many wood species, and to create expressive pieces or small series, with courses that include veneering, figured veneer and marquetry, and turned and carved motifs. The programme, taught in small groups, also covers business management and includes exhibitions of student work.
