In short
The Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani Ware Training Institute in Nomi, Ishikawa Prefecture, was established in 1984 to train people for the future of Kutani ware and skilled workers for the industry. It offers a two-year main course for high-school graduates, a one-year research course for those who have completed the main course or have equivalent skills, and a one-year practical course, one day a week, for people already working in the Kutani industry and recommended by their employer. Besides basic ceramic techniques it teaches design and marketing, and the institute states that its curriculum in overglaze painting is highly specialised.
