In short

Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta is a public arts university established on 23 July 1984 through the merger of three earlier art schools: the ASRI fine arts academy, whose origins go back to 1950, the AMI music academy and the ASTI dance academy. It has faculties of fine arts and design, performing arts and recorded media, and teaches from vocational diploma to doctorate. Its fine arts and design faculty includes a bachelor's programme in kriya (craft art), covering traditional and modern craft techniques, and a vocational D4 programme in batik craft and fashion design, alongside interior design, product design and art conservation. The campus is on Jalan Parangtritis in Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta.
